Demons coach Paul Roos apologises over players' Rolf Harris Mad Monday photo

Melbourne Demons coach Paul Roos has apologised on behalf of the club after two players dressed up as disgraced entertainer Rolf Harris and a young girl during their "Mad Monday" celebrations.

A photo posted on social media showed Dean Terlich dressed as Harris while teammate Alex Georgiou wore a dress and a wig with pigtails.

Earlier this year, Harris was jailed for five years and nine months after he was found guilty on 12 charges of indecent assault involving four girls.

"Mad Monday" is a traditional day of celebration for Australian athletes in various codes at the end of the season, often involving heavy consumption of alcohol.

Roos said the behaviour was completely unacceptable and he had told the players how he felt.

"I guess I find it hard to believe a couple of players could turn up like that," he said.

"They were left in no uncertain measures that we're completely unhappy with their behaviour."

Roos said he was bitterly disappointed and the players understood they had done the wrong thing.

"There's no malice and there's no intent in it but there's just no thought process goes into it," he said.

"I'm sure there are people out there that take the view that boys will be boys. I don't take that view. I just think that's unacceptable.

"You just wish that the players would have a lot more thought goes into what they do post season but all the time.

"I mean they're under the microscope and they need to think about what their actions are 24/7."

Roos said he would meet with the players soon to discuss their punishment which is likely to involve an education programme.
