World's tallest Skyjump opens

The world's tallest SkyJump has opened at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas and it stands 260m above the famous strip.

Guinness World Records was present at the opening and declared SkyJump Las Vegas as the highest commercial decelerator descent, breaking the previous record set in Macau.

The jump is a controlled free-fall with riders suited-up in custom jump suits connected.

Jumpers are connected with ropes and leap off a platform before falling to a landing pad below.

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman said the attraction takes the area to a world class level for thrill rides.

"I look forward to this new attraction at Stratosphere adding to the amazing experiences that you can find only in Las Vegas," he said.

You have to be at least 14 years old to jump and it costs $US99.
