Swimmer missing after being swept down Murrumbidgee River

A search will resume this morning for a swimmer missing in a river in the New South Wales Riverina region.

Police said two men were swimming in the Murrumbidgee River at Oura Beach, near Wagga Wagga, about 6.45pm on Thursday when they were swept away.

A man aged in his mid 20s was able to swim to shore, but a 25-year-old man did not make it to land and had not been seen since.

Local police and members of the NSW Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA) took part in a search until nightfall.

Police divers will join local police and volunteers when the search resumes this morning.
