Goodall take silver in Games boxing

Australian super heavyweight boxer Joe Goodall was forced to settle for Commonwealth Games silver after proving no match for Englishman Joe Joyce.

Joyce won with a dominant display in the final, the judges giving him every round in a unanimous points decision.

Goodall, who only took up the sport less than four years ago, was lucky to last the distance after he was tagged on a number of occasions with shots to the head.

One such blow led to the Australian receiving a standing count, at which point it looked like the imposing Englishman was one hit away from a knockout win.

Goodall's silver medal comes after a pair of golds for Australia earlier on the final day of boxing in Glasgow, with Shelley Watts winning the women's lightweight final and Andrew Moloney winning in the men's flyweight final.
