Young tradie almost missed call about $6.7m Lotto win
A young South Australian tradie was busy at work when he missed a life-changing phone call, which he initially thought was a joke.
The young tradesman from McLaren Vale held the winning entry in Friday's Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10474, winning $6,740,000.
He was at work on Friday afternoon when officials from The Lott tried calling him to break the good news.
"I saw all of these missed calls and then I thought ‘well someone clearly wants me’," he told officials.
Initially the man was in utter shock, thinking the call was a prank.
"This isn’t a wind up, is it? Are you sure you’re not one of my mates pulling my leg?" he said, then admitting he was glad he answered the call.
"Hell yeah! Bloody oath! This is huge!"
The man said he expects his wife will want him to finish up work early for the day so the two of them could have a few drinks to celebrate.
“I can’t wait to call my wife and tell her this news! Mate, she is going to be blown away." he said.
While he was struggling to comprehend he is now a multi-millionaire, he had a few ideas on what he would be doing with his win.
“We have always rented, so it means we can finally buy ourselves a home," he said.
“We’ve always wanted to travel lots as well, and since we can’t go overseas, we might get ourselves a caravan and take our young family around Australia.
“The rest we will save for the future and for our kids.”
