Giant python filmed regurgitating cat outside childcare centre

WARNING - DISTRESSING CONTENT: A python which was found coiled up near a children's centre in Thailand has been forced to regurgitate its last meal.

The large snake, said to be about 4.2 metres long, had been digesting what was believed to be a wild cat when passers-by spotted the reptile which had been concealed in a concrete pipe in Bangkok.

Rescue workers were then called and when they arrived they hauled the serpent out from where it had been hiding for a couple if days.

A rescue worker recorded video of pressure being applied to the python in an attempt to force it to regurgitate the feline.

At one point in the footage it appears that a man is holding the snake's tail while another works on getting it to bring up what it had eaten.

The snake has its jaws wide open towards the end of the clip and is seen squirming as its food is regurgitated.

"I wanted to let him get the food out from its belly naturally," said the rescue worker who captured the footage.

"But staff said that would not have been successful. It was a cat that came out."

They believed if the serpent was not caught it would have put the children in danger.

"Oh my god, this was so scary. I didn’t want to get too close while I was filming it," the rescue worker said.

"It’s very rare to see a python doing this as normally it will eat something and keep quiet in its own little place."

It is estimated that the cat had been eaten about three days earlier - a meal which would normally take close to ten days to digest.

The snake was relocated to the jungle.
