BMW driver in the UK refuses to move car blocking ambulance

This is the shocking moment a BMW driver in the UK argued with two paramedics, because he didn't want to move his car which was blocking an ambulance taking a patient to hospital.

The shouting match broke out, when an ambulance was unable to get through a lane under a bridge in Brighton, East Sussex, because the BMW driver and a Tesco delivery driver were blocking the way.

The two motorists were locked in a ridiculous stalemate over who had right of way on the narrow lane, with neither of them wanting to reverse back out of it.

The paramedics asked the man to move his vehicle which was blocking their ambulance from getting through a narrow lane.

Video shows one of the paramedics marching towards the BMW driver, identified as businessman Neil Waugh, and telling him to move.

“You are obstructing a patient getting to hospital,” he says.

“I am not,” Mr Waugh replies, before adding that the other driver could move his vehicle, instead of him reversing.

The paramedics quickly lose their patience, and one of them shouts at the man to “Get in the car and move”.

The second paramedic then storms over to the man and adds, “Get in your car and move, you fool”.

Incredibly, Mr Waugh has filed a formal complaint to the South East Coast Ambulance Service about how he was treated, the Daily Mail reports.

However Mr Waugh, who has been slammed on social media since the video went viral, has admitted he probably should have reversed his vehicle.

'”I have been portrayed as the kind of person who would rather let someone die in an ambulance than move my car and that's not the case,” he told the newspaper.

“In hindsight maybe I should have just reversed. The van driver could have moved a few feet and the ambulance would have been able to get through.”

This isn’t the first time self-entitled motorist has caused trouble for emergency services or caused chaos on the road.
