Utah police ram into car during high-speed chase

This is the dramatic moment US police rammed into the side of a vehicle to end a high-speed freeway pursuit.

The car chase, which was captured on dash cam vision, started around 2pm on Monday when a 32-year-old woman started driving the wrong way on a Utah freeway.

The car was weaving in and out of traffic and travelled in both directions on a stretch of the freeway north of Salt Lake City.

When police gave chase along the Interstate 15, the woman refused to stop her vehicle.

After traffic was slowed to protect vehicles from the driver's path, state troopers attempted to push the woman's car off the side of the road.

Dash cam vision shows a state trooper clip into the back right hand side of the vehicle in an attempt to stop it. While this causes the back bumper to fall off and trail behind the car, it does not deter the driver.

The vehicle was badly damaged when it landed on its roof after police rammed into it.

The motorist continues to dangerously swerve in and out of traffic until police hit into the vehicle again, sending the car spinning before it lands on its roof.

Authorities said the driver then took off on foot and attempted to carjack others stopped on the freeway, before she was arrested.

The 32-year-old woman suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash and remains in hospital.

While the woman was definitely one of the most dangerous drivers we've seen on the road, she is far from the first bad driver to be caught on dash cam.
