The people still isolated by Nepal's earthquake

Thousands of people remain cut off following a deadly earthquake in Nepal.

An Australian family is still waiting for news of trekker Tyrone White, who's been missing since Nepal's deadly earthquake.

He was last seen in an area that was devastated by landslides.

Near the epicentre of the quake in the Gorkha District, emergency workers are desperately trying to reach areas that remain cut off.

Aid organisations are trying to work with local government but information is vague and communication rarely effective.

Madsap Dsakal from Care Nepal said many people are sleeping outside as aftershocks continue.

"They don't have blanket and tarpaulin so for their temporary shelter,” Dsakal said.

Monsoon rain is likely to make rescue efforts more difficult in coming weeks.

There are concerns that without effective aid supply, diseases such as typhoid and cholera will spread.
