A bungling and intoxicated would-be robber has been arrested during an attempted bank heist in the US, police say.

Police say Stanley Geddie, 46, demanded $100,000 from a bank manager at the Capital City Bank, Tallahassee, Florida, claiming he was carrying a .357 firearm and explosives which he threatened to detonate.

It is alleged he arrived in a taxi and refused to pay his $25.50 fare. The cab driver told police Geddie had warned him: "I'll deal with you later."

Inside the bank, the accused allegedly threatened "I'll blow this place up" and indicated he had the building surrounded while he continued to demand money.

When police officers arrived, Geddie appeared 'very intoxicated and spaced out', according to court documents.

They said Geddie refused to follow his commands, and they responded by stunning him with a taser, the Tallahassee Democrat reports.

When they warned Geddie he would be shot if he made any sudden movements, he apparently responded saying: "well then kill me'.

He was then arrested without further incident.

A subsequent search revealed he was not carrying explosives devices.

The Tallahassee Democrat reports Geddie was arrested on charges of robbery, petty theft, and resisting a police officer.

He was treated for taser wounds at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.

The cab driver told police he wanted to press charges for the unpaid fare, which resulted in the petty theft charge, the Tallahassee Democrat reports.
