Widower discovers touching goodbye note from late wife

It seems almost impossible, but Jimmy Breland's late wife offered comfort in his time of need with a breathtaking note she had penned just days before her death.

"We will meet again," his 83-year-old wife of 60 years, Billie, wrote in the touching note.

The mourning widower discovered the carefully concealed note tucked inside Billie's checkbook, just two days after her death.

"Please don't cry because I died," she wrote. "Smile because I lived! Know that I'm in a happy place."

"Know that we will meet again! I'll see you there."

The couple's grandson, Clive Sims, detailed the incredible discovery on the YellowHammer news website.

He said his grandmother's health had deteriorated in the weeks before her death, and although it was unclear when the note was written, it was the last of many.

"She was an avid note writer," Clive said of the former public school teacher, who had fallen in love with 'grandaddy', the local student baptist minister.

"She left one final note tucked inside her checkbook — but this one wasn’t for her, it was for my Grandaddy, and it perfectly sums up the hope and comfort that comes with knowing you’ll meet again in eternity."
