Woolworths, Coles and David Jones added to NSW Covid hot list
Woolworths, Coles, David Jones and numerous buses and trains have been added to the Sydney Covid cluster hotspot list.
NSW Health said on Monday night that anyone who visited the venues or rode the trains at the listed times need to monitor for symptoms and get tested immediately if they appear.
After getting tested they should isolated as a precaution.
The outbreak in Sydney's northern breaches grew to 126 cases on Monday, prompting tighter restrictions for Sydney’s News Year’s Eve firework display.
A man in his 70s died on December 21 following a Covid infection in March, NSW Health also confirmed.
He wasn’t infectious when he died and had tested negative but suffered from respiratory issues related to the virus.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said on Monday the government was cancelling the plan to allocate spots along the foreshore for front-line workers from across the state to be able to watch the fireworks.
“Unfortunately we're going to have to cancel that,” she said.
“We think it's too much of a health risk having people from the regions and from Sydney and from broader regional areas congregate all in the CBD and the advice to date has to all of us be try to avoid the CBD.
“We don't want any crowds on the foreshores around Sydney whatsoever.”
