Woolworths is set to trial Disney Ooshies swap days as the promotion winds down but it will only be available for one state.

The supermarket announced it was ending the Ooshies promo earlier than expected two weeks ago due to “extraordinary demand”.

While availability of Ooshies will vary from store-to-store in each state and territory, customers will no longer be able to redeem theirs when they shop online, with the exception of Victoria.

Woolworths said in a statement participating South Australian supermarkets will allow customers to trade their Ooshies on Saturday from 10am-2pm and Sunday 12pm-4pm.

The supermarket has previously held swap days for the collectables but due to Covid-19 hasn’t been able to so far in 2019.

The South Australian swap days will be used as trials to determine if the trades under Covid-safe rules could work in other states.

Swap days will be Covid-safe, Woolworths says

Woolworths’ South Australia state manager Karl Weber said the supermarket is confident it can implement “learnings from the last six months and implement Covid-safe measures”.

“We will adjust how swap days operate to help keep our customers and team members safe while giving customers the opportunity to try to complete their collection,” he said.

“These swap days will be more organised than in previous years. Customers will queue to drop off their extra Disney+ Ooshies where they will be cleaned by a team member, then they have the opportunity to pick up available cleaned Disney+ Ooshies to add to their collection.

“If the trial in South Australia is a success and customers adhere to store signage and follow team member instructions without incident, we will consider running similar swap days in other states and territories with appropriate hygiene and social distancing measures.”
