'It smells so bad': Woman grossed out by horrific find in her dishwasher

Putrid smelling bits of gunk and old grubby bits of rubbish have made for a woman’s rancid discovery inside her dishwasher.

The woman, from South Australia, revealed her nasty surprise to Facebook on Wednesday, sharing photos of waste from inside her well-used kitchen appliance.

She made the discovery after noticing her washer hadn’t been cleaning dishes as well as usual, prompting her decision to take a closer look inside.

To her horror, the “arms” normally responsible for squirting out water, had become completely blocked up with old bits of food and rubbish.

“I didn’t want to pull it apart so I got a pin and picked at the holes and then shook it so everything came to one end,” she wrote in her post.

Alluding to the photos showing the dregs she found, she said “this is what I managed to pick out through the holes with a pin”.

“It smells so bad,” she added.

In an appeal for help, she asked that someone fill her in on how to do a proper clean to avoid water sitting at the bottom of the machine looking “dirty”.

Nearly 100 social media users contributed suggestions, many offering tips on how often she should consider cleaning her dishwasher in the future.

“Make sure you rinse everything before stacking,” someone said in a comment.

“I always rinse before stacking to avoid this, even when I hand wash,” another said.

Others took the opportunity to make light of the situation, one person joking: “they always say make sure you fill the dishwasher, but I don’t think they meant fill it up this way”.

Noting the small holiday decorations the woman pulled out of the washer, someone else quipped: “this is not the kind of Christmas that people wish for”.
