Woman startled by 'funny' find on Woolies grocery delivery - but can you spot it?

A shopper has received a surprise item in a Woolworths grocery order that was possibly on the brink of fossilisation.

Unpacking her order she found what some might consider a vintage item - a Continental beef stock packet with a best before date that had expired seven years ago.

The meaty soup flavouring should have been used up by 2012, with its package stating it would have been tastiest up until April 13 that year.

The woman almost thought the brand had launched new packaging due to the unfamiliar look of the packet that ended up in her Click and Collect order.

In a post to the supermarket’s Facebook page on Wednesday, she was able to see the humour in her unlikely situation.

“This is too funny. I’m unpacking my Click and Collect to find an out of date item. I originally thought it was the wrong item being a different pack,” she wrote.

“But no, (it was) just old stock... only by seven years.”

Others agreed it was “crazy” she received an item that was so far gone.

Woolworths offered the customer a replacement package, presumably with a future best before date.

Yahoo News Australia has contacted the supermarket for comment on the matter.
