Woman blasts delivery driver's mistake - but can you see it?

The mistake left an elderly neighbour shook up - and it wasn't even her parcel.

A mum claims she had to rescue her "panicking" elderly neighbour who was trapped inside her own apartment after a delivery driver "jammed a parcel under her door handle".

Charlie Clarke claims she and son George, 20, heard neighbour Dee shouting for help from the flat below late last month.

Dee, who is believed to be in her 70s, was stood on her raised patio on the ground floor claiming that her door handle wouldn't turn and she couldn't get out.

Charlie, 39, rushed downstairs to help and found a tall package propped up against the door, blocking the handle and leaving her neighbour imprisoned in the flat in London's south.

She moved the parcel so that Dee was able to leave and the panicked pensioner said that if Charlie wasn't home she would have called the fire brigade.

She slammed the Yodel driver for their alleged 'incompetence' and pointed out how dangerous it could have been if there was a fire.

Yodel confirmed they were carrying out a 'full investigation' of what happened.

"It's absolutely shocking. Delivery drivers are so careless. It was so bad," Londoner Charlie said.

"Was it malicious or just complete carelessness? I think it's just incompetence. It could have been really dangerous. It's definitely a fire hazard.

"She was panicking a little bit. She didn't know what was wrong with the door because the handle was moving a little bit.

Parcel delivered to wrong address

Charlie claims Dee hadn't heard a knock at the door and the parcel wasn't even addressed to her.

She also said that the hallway is large so there would have been plenty of space for the driver to leave the package without blocking the door.

Charlie tracked down the person the parcel was addressed to, who was in a completely different postcode, and arranged for them to come and collect it.

"The safe delivery of parcels is our number one priority. We have protocols in place for parcel delivery and the overwhelming majority are delivered correctly first time," A Yodel spokesperson said.

"We are in the process of carrying out a full investigation on this situation and will take appropriate action once this has come to a conclusion."
