Boy hospitalised from Movie World ride 'not properly seated'
An investigation continues into an accident on a Movie World ride that left a 12-year-old boy with "significant" head injuries on Tuesday.
Emergency services were called to the Gold Coast theme park on Tuesday afternoon following reports a child had fallen on the Looney Tunes Carousel ride resulting in "significant" head lacerations.
He was taken to Gold Coast University hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
Witnesses at the park told The Courier-Mail it looked as though the boy wasn't properly seated on the carousel and hit his head on the top of the ride, however, Village Roadshow — who operates the theme park — has not responded to those claims.
The publication also reported Movie World operators Village Roadshow have launched an internal review of the accident. On Wednesday the ride remained closed.
Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Queensland officers confirmed with Yahoo News they are also investigating the incident.
Boy 'lucky' his injuries weren't more severe
Queensland Ambulance Service supervisor William Houghton said the boy was conscious when they arrived.
"The patient was at the side of the amusement ride, he'd been tended to by one of the (registered nurses) on scene, so he had good first aid given before we arrived," he told Channel 7.
"The scene was very calm ... everyone seemed really helpful.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, a spokesman for Village Roadshow said they were working to establish exactly how the incident happened.

“Our thoughts are with the guest and his family and we wish him a speedy recovery,” the statement said.
“We pride ourselves on our standards of care and quality and an investigation is being conducted as a matter of priority into the exact cause of the incident.
“In an abundance of caution, the ride has been closed while we understand how the incident occurred.”
