Wild road rage crash caught on camera

Dashcam footage uploaded by a trucking company, whose vehicle was involved, shows a Mazda with red P-plates being hit by two trucks on the Bruce Highway in Queensland on Wednesday.

“Road rage and brake checking led to a major accident this afternoon,” the footage was captioned.

In the footage the Mazda can be seen driving close behind a Subaru SUV station wagon, but the Subaru appears to be ‘brake checking’ - tapping the brakes when a vehicle is tailgating - the Mazda, as they drive along the right hand lane.

The Mazda goes to change lanes, oversteers, loses control, is hit by one and then a second truck, before rolling to a stop against the guardrail. The Mazda’s front bumper was blown off, and the left side doors appear badly dented.

A male driver gets out of the driver’s side door under his own steam, as another motorist who stopped approached to help.

The crash happened on Queensland’s 1600km-long Bruce Highway, north of Brisbane. The footage dates the crash on June 26, about 2.10pm.

Camera footage from the side of the truck, as well as from the truck driver’s perspective, captured some of the lead up to the violent collisions.

The trucking company uploaded the footage to an Australian dashcam footage social media page, which has more than one million followers.

Thousands of commenters were quick to pass judgement on who’s to blame for the crash. Police are investigating.
