Vladimir Putin soiled himself after falling down the stairs at his home on Wednesday night, a source has claimed amid ongoing rumours about the Russian president’s health.
The 70-year-old allegedly “stumbled” and “slid down a couple of steps” before bodyguards rushed to his aid, an anti-Kremlin Telegram channel named General SVR reported.
While the channel’s author is unknown, it is reportedly run by a former Russian Foreign Intelligence Service official who claims to have inside access to Putin and his staff, according to Newsweek. General SVR has made previous allegations about Putin’s “deteriorating” health, but many have not been substantiated with proof, the publication reports.
According to the account, the Russian president landed on his coccyx — otherwise known as the tailbone — prompting him to “involuntarily defecate” due to “cancer of the gastrointestinal tract”.
Although medics arrived within minutes, an examination was put on hold as Putin was rushed to the bathroom to “clean up”, General SVR claims.
“After a complete examination, a bruise of the coccyx and soft tissues was diagnosed,” the Telegram post reads. “Nothing critical, the president's health was stable closer to the night. He can move independently, complaints of pain in the coccyx when sitting are the only thing that worries Putin. At night he took painkillers.”
The account claims an investigation into what provoked the alleged fall is underway.
“He wears special shoes, even at home with anti-slip coating, and the stairs in the residence are considered ‘safe’,” General SVR said, adding that it was a “dramatic” ending to a “difficult” day.
Despite the new wild rumour, the Russian president was seen speaking with students at an event in Moscow on Thursday, The Mirror reports.
On Friday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin is open to future talks about ending the war with Ukraine but the Western demand that Moscow first withdraws its troops is unacceptable.
