Why a dad is furious at this magazine display in Woolworths

A dad has vented his outrage over a magazine shelf at a Woolworths supermarket in northern NSW.

Zac Lovett, who was visiting Woolies at Mullumbimby, wrote on Facebook he’s “disgusted” by two magazines seen at “children’s eye level” at the checkout.

“Both with headlines about family murders,” he wrote.

“It’s bad enough that you promote this kind of thing as entertainment, but to put it where my children can read it is not appreciated.

“Take some social responsibility and do better.”

In response to Mr Lovett’s post, the supermarket wrote it understands the dad’s concerns.

“We appreciate your feedback and we've shared this with our Mullumbimby management team for their awareness,” it wrote.

One man accused Mr Lovett of “outrage culture”.

“Can’t shelter your children forever,” one woman wrote.

A Woolworths spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia both magazines were removed from the area after seeing Mr Lovett’s post.

“The customer can also raise concerns with the publisher directly or with the Independent Media Council (IMC), who can assess complaints against the IMC’s Code of Conduct,” the spokesperson said.
