'What a legend': New mum shares stranger's 'beautiful' note

A new mum has shared the heartwarming moment a stranger left her a thoughtful note and baked treat on her doorstep.

The Brisbane mother said in a Facebook post that she received the random act of kindness on Monday while taking care of her baby.

The mum said she’d placed an item on Facebook Marketplace for free and had been inundated with eager recipients.

The mum said the first message was from a “kind” woman named Vijayata who wished her a good morning.

“We proceeded to make pick-up arrangements and I left the item outside for collection as my daughter was soon due for a breastfeed,” she said.

“As I so often do, I left my phone in the kitchen while filling up my water bottle before the feed. I missed the 'I'm on the way message ' [and] I missed the 'I have arrived message’.”

After finishing feeding her daughter, the mum said she ran to check her phone and found a message from Vijayata saying thank you and letting the mum know she had left something for her outside.

“I was immediately taken aback. Vijayata, this beautiful, kind and generous stranger had left me this package,” she said, posting an image of a homemade mango coconut cake with a loving note.

Vijayata listed the cake’s ingredients in case of allergies and packaged it with a packet of tea.

“Have a cuppa on me,” she wrote.

“Look after yourself for you are a superwoman. Giving birth is no easy feat and raising a human, well, is no less than a super power. Take care.”

The new mum said she was “shocked” by the act of “true kindness” and she will forever be grateful.

“When my daughter is old enough to understand, I can tell her the story of a generous lady named Vijayata. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” the mum said.

Thousands of people took to the post to share their joy over the note and sweet snack.

“That’s beautiful. How thoughtful of her to also put allergens in the note she left,” one woman said.

“Vijayata understands the village. What a legend!” another woman wrote.

“This is what makes communities — love it!” a third chimed in.
