Search at missing Sydney mum Lynette Dawson's home comes to an end

A six-day search for the body of Lynette Dawson at her former Bayview home has proven fruitless and has come to an end.

The operation, conducted as part of ongoing investigations into the suspected murder of Lynette Dawson, began on Wednesday and finished on Monday.

Police said they failed to locate Ms Dawson’s remains or any items of interest to the investigation.

Detective Superintendent Scott Cook previously told reporters police were digging between a rock and the home, as well as another area in the backyard near the clothesline.

Detectives from the Homicide Squad’s Unsolved Homicide Unit established Strike Force Scriven in 2015 to re-investigate Lynette’s 1982 disappearance.

Police say they are committed to providing answers to her family.

Ms Dawson, a 33-year-old mother of two girls, was last seen in January 1982.

Ms Dawson spoke to her mother on the evening of January 8, 1982, while she was at home in the Sydney suburb of Bayview with her husband and former Newtown Jets rugby league player, Christopher Dawson.

She made plans to meet her mother the following day at Northbridge Baths, but did not show up.

Ms Dawson was reported missing on February 18, 1982 by her husband.

After two coronial inquiries, in 2001 and 2003, no one was convicted of her suspected murder.

However, her husband, has long been a suspect. Chris Dawson has consistently denied any involvement in his wife’s disappearance.
