Perth tradie collects $3m lotto win during smoko and celebrates with a sausage roll

Perth tradie buys sausage roll after winning $3 million in Lotto

While still wearing his high-vis and a hard hat, a Perth tradie has picked up a $3 million Lotto prize during his smoko break.

Not about to let his newfound fortune change him, the Bull Creek man celebrated with a $2.50 sausage roll and a glass of champagne.

“I bet that’s a first – Lotto winner buys sausage roll,” the happy tradie laughed.

After picking up the winning ticket from the Leeming Lottery Centre and Newsagency, WA’s newest millionaire said he now plans to pay off his mortgage, but it's his wife who is still struggling to come to comprehend their whopping win.

“No requests from her yet – she still won’t have it that we’ve won,” he said.

“We both went off to work this morning like nothing’s happened."

Justifiability not getting much sleep after learning of his win, the man who is understood to be in his 30s, said he’ll “probably add a coffee to the order too”.

“I haven’t caught a wink of sleep so I’ll probably add a coffee to the order too.”

Store owner Colin Doyle said it was the second Division 1 win his business had experienced in just over 12 months.

“Late last year we sold a Division 1 winning ticket worth almost half a million dollars,” Mr Doyle said.

“With $15 million up for grabs in tomorrow’s OZ Lotto draw let the good times roll,” he added.
