Virgin Australia passenger fumes over ‘most disgusting’ sight on flight

Others seemed to agree the behaviour was 'appalling' – but what do you think? Vote in our poll.

A horrified Virgin Australia passenger has shared a photo of “one of the most disgusting things” they’ve seen on a flight – and others seemed to agree it made them squirm.

The passenger was on flight VA738 from the Gold Coast to Melbourne on Wednesday and noticed another traveller in the row behind him had taken off their shoes and was resting their feet on the arm rest in front.

A photo shows two feet poking through the gap between the chair and the window, with one foot appearing to be touching the window panel.

A row of seats can be seen with a service dog sitting on the floor, and two feet sticking out near the window.

“This would have to be one of the most disgusting things that I’ve seen on a flight in a long time,” the traveller wrote. “Even the poor old puppy doesn’t look too impressed,” he added, referring to the well-behaved service dog sitting in the leg space of the woman next to him.

“Eventually after putting up with it for 20 minutes she was asked politely and pulled them back. She thought it was ok because the seat [in front of her] was empty.”

The photo was posted in a Frequent Flyers Facebook group, where it gained dozens of comments from equally outraged viewers.

“Recline the seat and wedge the bloody feet! How anyone can think this behaviour is acceptable is just appalling!” one man said.

“Disgusting,” another agreed.

Others had more creative ideas about how to solve the problem. “Should have had the dog lick their feet,” one woman suggested.

“Just tickle their soles,” another joked.

All Virgin Australia passengers must be wearing footwear in order to board their flight, according to the airline’s minimum dress requirements – though Yahoo News understands once on board, there are no strict guidelines around shoes being on or off.
