Protestors unable to breach security perimeter at the G7 summit

National leaders and journalists were taken to the G7 summit site by helicopter on Sunday in Germany after protesters blocked the main road to the venue.The G7 summit began Sunday at the Schloss Elmau hotel in Bavaria.German authorities built a 10-mile wire fence around the hotel and deployed some 19,000 police officers to the area prior to the summit. Security forces are carrying out border checks, mainly at the Austria and the Czech Republic borders.

A bus crashed off a bridge and into the Moyka River in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on Friday, May 10, with local police saying around 20 people were on board.Local media reported that at least five people died, with four “seriously injured”.
