Notorious pedophile 'witch' found living near primary school
One of Australia's most notorious pedophiles has been discovered living three doors away from a Melbourne primary school.
In 1998, legally-blind, so-called witch Robin Angus Fletcher was convicted of enslaving and raping two teenage girls.
He used hypnotism and mind-altering techniques to prostitute the two 15-year-olds.
The Wiccan told the girls it was necessary to fulfill their destiny as "high priestesses of the dark covenant".
He then spent 10 years under supervision at the notorious village of the damned for sex offenders.
Last month, the 60-year-old was released into the community, after a Victorian court ruling.
Upon the sex offender's release, he moved to a quiet Cheltenham street.
The majority of residents in his street are young families, and his move into the neighbourhood has left parents fearing for the safety of their children.
Seven News discovered Fletcher's house was just three doors away from Le Page Primary School - barely 100 metres from his bedroom door.
There is also a kindergarten and a child care centre within 500 metres.
Police have visited this property several times since Fletcher moved in, but that has been purely to check on his living arrangements.
“It's certainly going to change the way I let them out the front door,” an anonymous neighbour told reporter Seven News.
Lorrina Layuni agreed, saying: “I don't feel safe at all. This is the way they walk to school. This is the way they go to play at the park.“
“I just don't feel safe now because we have three grand children and a lot of kids around here,“ Tony Sutarno said.
The department of justice sought to extend Fletcher's supervision order for another five years which would have included GPS tracking, but their appeal was dismissed.
Justice Phillip Priest on February 8 ruled that despite Fletcher's "repellent" offences, he did not pose, according to the law, an unacceptable risk to the community.
The Court of Appeal found it was "well open to the judge, on the evidence before him, to reach his conclusion".
As a registered sex offender, Fletcher would be the subject of police monitoring.
