Man 'numb' after winning lotto with numbers he's been playing for 27 years

A Victorian man has revealed he didn't get any sleep on Saturday night after he realised he had won nearly half a million dollars taking home a division one lottery prize with numbers he has been playing for nearly three decades.

The lucky winner from Brown Hill, who wants to remain anonymous, revealed the entry was inspired by birth dates in his family.

And when the numbers were drawn his wife had an inkling they might be set to receive a windfall.

He said, “My wife checks her numbers every Saturday night, but I usually wait for my email to come through in the morning.

“She said to me ‘I reckon you’ve got those numbers in your birthday’s entry’"

The man explained the numbers consisted of his birthday, his wife's birthday and his kids' birthdays.

“I’ve been playing them for about 27 years!”

The man said while it is unbelievable to win, he went numb after he realised.

His entry was one of nine division one winning entries to take home a prize of $455,920 on Saturday.

But the lucky man's windfall was boosted to a little over $461,000 after his marked System 7 entry also won division three six times.

The winner is not sure how he will spend the money yet but knows those who inspired it will also get a piece of the pie.

“I’ve already lost half of it, I have to share it with my wife!” he joked.

The winning numbers in Saturday's TattsLotto draw 3819 were 5, 19, 1, 30, 14 and 15.

The supplementary numbers were 20 and 28.
