WATCH: Continental Soup truck hurtles off road into waterway

A truck driver has been filmed hurtling into an irrigation channel after losing control on a Victorian highway.

Dramatic dashcam footage captured the moment the truck, understood to be carrying Continental Soup, veered off the Goulburn Highway in Moorilim shortly after 1pm on Monday.

After becoming airborne for a moment the truck can be seen flying into the water, sending a huge wave crashing over the top.

A passing truck driver coming from the other direction saw the terrifying scene unfold and immediately pulled over.

Sprinting across four lanes lanes on the highway, the driver who filmed the encounter heroically jumped straight into the channel and pulled the 62-year-old driver out from the submerged cabin.

Victoria Police told Yahoo7 News the driver of the submerged vehicle, a Tatura resident, was taken to hospital for observation.

The cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
