Charges dropped against alleged thief after Porsche police chase

A 21-year-old has been released on bail and charges of aggravated burglary and theft have been dropped, after a luxury car was allegedly stolen from an AFL player's Melbourne home.

Two men were arrested on Tuesday, and another remains on the run, after the Porsche Macan was taken from Hawthorn player Brendan Whitecross’ Croydon home about 2am Tuesday.

The car was then involved in a high speed chase with police before it was dumped in a shopping centre car park.

Police then arrested 21-year-old man Dylan Hubbard from Wantirna and another 20-year-old from Wantirna South on nearby High Street Road.

Hubbard was remanded in custody, and initially charged with aggravated burglary, theft, and theft of a motor vehicle.

The Ringwood Magistrates Court on Wednesday heard that Hubbard was not involved in the home invasion or stealing the car keys.

The aggravated burglary and theft charges against him have been dropped, however the charge of theft of a motor vehicle remains.

The 20-year-old from Wantirna South, who was also was arrested on Tuesday, remains in hospital under police guard. He is yet to be interviewed.

Another man believed to be involved in the alleged home invasion and theft remains at large.
