'BIGWin For Paedophiles': Melbourne mum launches moral campaign against Target and Big W

A Melbourne mother has put Big W and Target in her sights after the retail giant started selling "ballet flats" for toddlers that included a small raised heel.

Her weapons were some cleverly worded, clandestine anti-ads she placed in the store.

The outraged mum who spoke to parenting website Kidspot anonymously launched her war on the stores because she believes a raised heel on a baby girl's shoe is not only unnecessary, it's dangerous.

Moreover, the mother feels the shoes are too mature and sexualised for little girls and another chip away from childhood innocence.

"It was ridiculous," the mother told the website.

"Flats don't have heels. Or if they have a small one it's a flat, stable, horseshoe shape that goes across the whole sole.

"I don't know why they think this is necessary for a one-year-old, who could ever have thought this was a good idea."

The anti-marketing guerrilla said the heels were "precarious" for tots and could lead to rolled ankles.

So the mother launched her stealth attack by sneaking into the stores to throw up her signs that struck at the heart of Big W and Target.

The crafty signs read:

The mother said the over-sexualisation of young girls is "everywhere" and parents were left with not alternatives but to buy skimpy clothing for girls.

A Target spokesperson told the website the ballet shoes were "not considered a 'high heel' by industry standards" and the three millimetre heels "elevate a flat shoe to protect a child’s arch and are sold by several retailers across Australia".
