Woman's bizarre video shows surprising find in her barbecue
A woman has shared a bizarre video of an unexpected animal living in her barbecue with its babies.
Cat Cozzi uploaded a clip on Twitter of her slowly opening up the barbecue with a set of tongs before revealing an opossum and her babies inside.
The woman, from North Carolina in the US, said it was an old barbecue which does not work, that had not been moved off her back deck.
The video has been retweeted more than 100,000 times and many are shocked by the woman’s find.
“Opossums have 50 razor sharp teeth. It’s best not to irk one,” a comment said.
“I love that ‘do you mind? I just got them to sleep five minutes ago’ [expression],” another joked.
Some said it was a “terrifying” sight while others suggested calling animal rescue organisations to have the opossum and her babies safely removed.
According to the San Diego Zoo, opossums commonly live in forests or swamps but are adaptable and also settle among humans.
Opossums are marsupials, just like the Australian possum, but they are different species.
They can shelter in sheds, barns and also under houses.
