Bizarre upside down bikini trend taking over Instagram

We’ve seen the clear strap bikini trend, extreme high-cut bottoms and cut out bandeau bikinis take over Instagram, but there’s a new craze on the web.

Celebrities are going wild for upside down bikinis, which appears to show them wearing their tops the wrong way around so they show more underboob.

The whole thing appears to have started with Kendall Jenner, who first wore an upside down bikini by Australian brand Sommer Swim.

Then, Aussie influencer, Tammy Hembrow, was spotted in a similar style on her Instagram page, with the effect snowballing from there.

Since then, Kourtney Kardashian and Kylie Jenner have followed their sister’s lead with the bikini trend.

Australian reality star, Martha Kalifatidis, who appeared on MAFS two years ago, was also spotted in a Sommer Swim upside down bikini.

After Kourtney Kardashian wore one of the brand’s designs - a tiny red halterneck bikini - it caused such a stir that they sold out within minutes.

Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, Sommer Swim founder Anna-Maria Sommer said the style has been a bestseller ever since Kourtney’s sister, Kendall Jenner, was spotted wearing the same design numerous times over the past year and it’s usually the first style to sell out once it’s restocked.

“After Kourtney posted it was no surprise we had a surge of interest and sign ups to back in stock notifications for the Xena & Naomi bikini in Venere red,” Anna-Maria said.

She said it’s “an amazing feeling” and she’s “truly flattered” when major stars sport her designs.
