Sisters aged 6 and 10 found dead at Perth home

The bodies of two children have been found at a property in Madeley, north of Perth.

Western Australia police are currently at the scene of the Bogdanich Way residence and are yet to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The bodies of the two girls, aged 6 and 10, were found on Friday about 5.50pm (local time).

A woman, believed to be their mother, was arrested at a nearby beach about 8.40pm and is under police custody in hospital.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Steel told reporters the woman was hospitalised with "self-inflicted, non life-threatening injuries".

"As a result, she is not able to be interviewed at this time,” he said.

"This is a tragic event and our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and family of the children.

"Tragically for first responders, finding the bodies of two young children would have been a terrible thing to have to go through."

Homicide detectives and forensic police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Asst Comm Steel said the children's father was helping with the investigation.

Police say they have no information to indicate there is any ongoing threat to the public.
