Two bodies found in storm drain during search for men missing in Queensland

Two bodies have been found in the search for two men who disappeared amid rising floodwaters in Queensland.

Two men aged 21, and 23, were last seen on Ross River Road in Townsville near floodwaters on Monday morning.

The bodies were discovered by police in a storm water drain at Aitkenvale as the floodwaters started to clear across the city on Tuesday morning.

Yahoo7 News understands the pair were attempting to evade police after they allegedly tried to loot a Dan Murphy’s liquor store.

The men had not been located by Monday night despite extensive inquiries with family and friends, and a search of floodwaters and the area began.

Police have identified the bodies and their next of kin have been advised.
