'It's truly the little things': People touched by kind act for struggling mum

People have been left touched by a man’s random act of kindness for a struggling mother in the lead up to Christmas.

Kelsey Raw Zwick was travelling to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia from Orlando in the US last week to get treatment for her sick daughter when the heartwarming gesture left her in tears.

Ms Zwick wrote an open letter on Facebook to the man who gave up his seat in first class so she and her daughter could instead have a comfortable journey.

The post has since gone viral and a number of people have said the story brought them to tears.

“So loving and this post made me cry. There are so many wonderful and caring people out there. I thank that man along with you,” one wrote.

Another said “love wins” and the world was full of goodness.

Many joined the mum in thanking the stranger.

“To have been seen by this man and for him to extend himself in such a quiet, but significant way absolutely tugs every single one of my heart strings,” a friend said.

“Thank you passenger 2D for showing kindness to my beautiful friend who, despite her smiles and brave face, was carrying a heavy load of stress on her shoulders and in her heart.

“It is very truly the little things that mean the most.”

Ms Zwick said she and her daughter were settled in their economy seats when the flight attendant told her a man in first class was waiting to switch seats.

Ms Zwick said she held her laughing daughter and cried as she walked up the aisle.

“I smiled and thanked you as we switched but didn’t get to thank you properly.”

She thanked the man for not only the seat itself but for noticing her struggles and acknowledging life wasn’t always easy.

“For deciding you wanted to show a random act of kindness to US. It reminded me how much good there is in this world.”

Ms Zwick said she was inspired by the passenger’s generosity and now vows to pay it forward.
