Truck driver jailed for 'disgraceful' move on busy highway

A truck driver has been jailed after a dangerous move on a busy highway during rush hour.

Heart-stopping footage was shared by Staffordshire Police after the male driver was sentenced to six months’ prison for the manoeuvre on the M6 in the UK last month.

In the video the truckie can be seen exiting the highway before realising he has taken the wrong turn.

Instead of continuing along the slip lane, he stops and turns the vehicle around before heading into oncoming traffic.

Several cars flash their lights at the driver as he waits for an opportunity to rejoin the highway.

Multiple cars edge past the vehicle as they exit the road.

The truckie is eventually let out by a vehicle and he rejoins the flow of traffic.

Staffordshire Police said the driver also copped a 15-month driving ban – a punishment many online said was too lenient.

“It’s a disgrace the ban should have been life,” one person wrote in response to the post.

“The driver should never be allowed to drive again,” another said.

Others commented it was lucky there weren’t any lives lost.

“Could have killed numerous innocent people, including children... [the driver’s ban] is utterly disgraceful,” one user tweeted.

“Absolute maniac,” another declared.
