Hilarious moment cheeky seagull swoops selfie-taking tourist

A man has captured the moment a cheeky seagull dive bombed him as he took a selfie on top of a building at a tourist hotspot.

The incident was filmed in the resort town of Split on the Dalmatian Coast in southern Croatia and shared on YouTube where it has been viewed 24,000 times.

In the footage, the topless man is seen wearing sunglasses and standing on a building’s roof as he enjoys the clear blue skies and radiant sunshine.

While he positions the camera, believed to be on the end of a selfie stick, a seagull is seen flying in his direction in the background.

The mischievous gull dive-bombs the unsuspecting man and appears to hit the top of his head as he ducks, surprised.

Clearly startled, he looks around with a nervous grin and says: “It hit me!”

“Maybe the seagull thought the man’s bald head was an egg?” one person said.

“It was probably defending its young,” another wrote.

According to reports, squabbles of seagulls commonly show mob behaviour, and attack predators and intruders.

Meanwhile, the stunning town of Split is set to receive an increased number of holidaymakers after British Airways announced new flights during the summer.

The picturesque resort is known for its beaches and the fortress complex at its centre, Diocletian's Palace.
