Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup dates were released on Thursday and Spurs are among the clubs worst hit by the fixture pile-up because of the condensed 2020-21 campaign.
Tottenham enter the Europa League at the second qualifying stage on September 17. Should they win, Jose Mourinho’s side will be scheduled to play their next round the following Thursday night, two days after a Carabao Cup game.
Spurs are in talks with the EFL to try to find a solution but Mourinho may have to field two separate teams in the two competitions.
The European dates cannot be moved and it is unlikely to be feasible to change the EFL Cup date given the knock-on effect to the tournament and lack of alternatives dates.
With a hectic schedule next season sparking fears over player welfare, it was announced yesterday that FA Cup replays have been scrapped to ease congestion next season. Two-legged Carabao Cup semi-finals have also been scrapped and will now be just one-off games.
