Did security camera catch dog thief?

A Warnbro man says he is overwhelmed by the public’s response to disturbing security camera footage he posted allegedly showing a thief stealing his German shepherd.

Nick Edmunds, who lives near Warnbro Fair Shopping Centre, made a gut-wrenching discovery when he returned home from work last Thursday.

His side gate was wide open and his dog, Beau, was nowhere to be found.

Security camera footage which shows a man approach his house and leave with a German shepherd on a leash.

The man appears to be wearing a red and white shirt and a black backpack.

The footage was captured just after 11.30am on Thursday.

Minutes earlier, a dark coloured car with silver-accented wheel arches is seen driving slowly past the house.

Mr Edmunds posted the vision on his Facebook page and it has since gone viral, with more than 250,000 views in the past 14 hours.

The 28-year-old said he’s been inundated with links to Gumtree pages selling German Shepherds, in particular one in Balga, but unfortunately none of them are Beau.

He described the four-year-old dog as friendly, well-mannered and well behaved.

He said he hopes the attention the video had received with scare the potential dog napper into returning the dog.

Mr Edmunds said he was happy for the dog to be returned “no questions asked”.

“I was surprised, I didn’t realise people steal dogs, it’s such a heartless and terrible thing to do,” Mr Edmunds said.
