A City Beach man has been injured after chasing away a home intruder early this morning.

At 2am a male entered the home on Dartmouth Avenue but fled when confronted by the owner.

The 48-year-old man chased the intruder into the backyard where they began to fight.

The owner received cuts and abrasions to his hands and feet.

A 47-year-old female resident went outside and was knocked into a fence by the intruder, injuring her arm.

The intruder is described as being in his 20s and fled down the side of the house and into a light-coloured Mitsubishi 4WD parked nearby.
