Music legends Sting and Paul Simon will play an outdoor concert together in South Perth on their joint Australian tour next year.

The songwriting greats play An Evening on the Green at Sir James Mitchell Park on February 21.

The trans-Atlantic pairing played joint shows around the US this year billed as On Stage Together.

Simon and Sting performed each other's songs as well as their own hits.

Perth promoter Brad Mellen said the format was similar to the Elton John and Billy Joel, or the Paul Kelly and Neil Finn, double-headers.

During the US concerts, Simon, 72, a decade older than the former Police frontman, described the show as "our little experiment".

"We come from different places culturally," he said.

"Our voices are different, our accents are different, our senses of rhythm are different … it's a really interesting blend."

Tickets go on sale July 7, with prices from $139.90 to $599.90 for VIP packages.
