Fair sprouts with fresh uses for herbs

HERB FAIR
Saturday, May 3
Baldivis Church, Ingram Road

9am to 2pm

Herb enthusiasts from across the region will descend on Baldivis at the weekend, for the first annual Peel Districts Herb Fair.

Peel Herb Society president Angela Tayler said would-be horticulturalists would have the opportunity to learn from professionals, with a series of speakers taking the stage throughout the day.

Mrs Tayler said visitors could expect on-site information about sprouting, and inexpensive and easy ways to use seeds.

She said there would also be instruction on how to create beautiful tussie mussies, which incorporate herbs with roses and different flowers to create a display for the home or garden.

“There will also be a speaker at the fair who will chat about a natural method to de-flea homes and pets,” Mrs Tayler said.

“She will discuss the alternatives to those dreadful, chemical-filled flea bombs.”

Healthsmart WA managing director Marde Delavaris, who will be on site to showcase some of her natural health products, said she would hold mini consultations with visitors.

Ms Delavaris said she looked forward to discussing how different health issues could be addressed using herbal products.

She said she would offer advice on chemical free ways to treat cuts, burns, stings and sunburn.

“I may also hold a demonstration with ear candles, which is very relaxing and can do things like draw out insects that are caught.”

Mrs Tayler said there would also be a herbs on sale, tea and coffee, and face-painting activities for children.
