WA mobile & internet coverage extended

The State Government has almost completed its Regional Mobile Communications Project. This has increased mobile and internet coverage in regional WA by 22 per cent - to 95,000sqkm.

A spokesperson for the Department of Commerce says: “Particularly, there is now almost complete coverage along Highway 1, which is making a huge difference to people travelling in the regions, from emergency services issues and breakdowns to basic connectivity, tourism and planning ahead on journeys.”

Stage two starts next year and will focus on communities and installing 85 new communications towers, adding to the 113 installed as part of the original project.

“It’s a Royalties for Regions-funded project,” the spokesperson adds.
