New camp for boxer Sharp

Thornlie middleweight boxer Luke Sharp has split with long-time coach Dave Hassan and will now train out of Angelo Hyder's gym in Wangara.

Sharp, who was with Gosnells-based Hassan for about 10 years as amateur and professional, has made the move on the back of two defeats in three fights. He was unbeaten in his first 10 pro bouts.

The 25-year-old will have his first fight under Hyder at Metro City on October 10.

Sharp, who earned a rebuke from Hassan last month, was considering a move out of State and looked at a couple of gyms in Melbourne.

But he has opted to stay in WA and his new start begins with a four-rounder on the Dragon Fire Promotions' Thunderdome VIII card.

Brandon Ogilvie's drop down the weights continues and the one-time light-welterweight will box at super-featherweight for his rematch with John Min, whom he outpointed in June.

Unbeaten Sam Hogan, who has been putting a nice run of form together, is expected to be tested by Ryan Heck.

However, popular Northam light-heavy Vinnie Caruana has been forced to withdraw from the 10-fight show through injury.
