Proving sea rescuers' work extends beyond the sand and water, one Surf Life Saving WA Bunbury employee has been named Administrator of the Year at the State awards.

Lee Brightwell received the honour at the annual Awards of Excellence night at Crown Perth on Saturday.

The event recognises the contribution of SLSWA volunteers, lifeguards, athletes and clubs around WA.

Mrs Brightwell said she was "chuffed" about winning the award after seven years with the City of Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club.

"I was definitely surprised when my name got called out on the night and I wasn't expecting it," she said.

The accolade follows the Bunbury club awarding Mrs Brightwell the President's Trophy at its Season Celebration and Prestigious Awards Night at the start of this month.

"The club is just a great thing to be involved in and every year here is a highlight," she said.

Celebrating its centenary, Bunbury is the second-oldest SLSWA club after Cottesloe Beach.

Mrs Brightwell said the club's membership had trebled in the past 10 years and she hoped it kept growing.

Bunbury club president Peter Duncan said he was thrilled Mrs Brightwell was recognised for work that benefited the club every day.

"We nominated Lee because of her enormous dedication to our club's administrative practices, procedures and her input into our future planning," he said.

"This award and recognition at the State level comes as no surprise to those who work with her."
