The annual Youth Festival - part of National Youth Week from April 10-19 - offered youngsters numerous activities to show how they could have fun without taking drugs.

Activities included sumo wrestling, bouncing castles, Zorb balls, drumming, pizza-making and circus skills.

Manjimup shire president Wade DeCampo said the event was a way for young people to express themselves and showcase their talents.

"The take-home message for youth is that you can get your heart racing, have a good laugh and enjoy time with your mates and still be looking after your health by saying no to drugs," he said last week.

There was also a stall that highlighted the dangers of under-age drinking.

The event was a collaboration by the Manjimup Shire Council's Youth Network, Local Drug Action Groups, the Water Corporation, the Department of Local Government and Communities, Country Arts WA and Healthway.
