Swimmers who want to take part in next month's Busselton Jetty Swim have a chance to dip their toe in the water.

A group of swimmers are staging training sessions from 7.30am at the foreshore beach for the next three Sundays.

Organiser Barry Green said the practise sessions were not official events associated with the Jetty Swim, but they were a good opportunity to prepare for it.

"If you do it (the swim) a couple of times it makes you feel more confident," he said.

"You can go out on your own, in pairs or in a group. It's a good opportunity to test the water, whether you do a quarter, a half or the whole swim."

Mr Green said the sessions had proven popular in the past, with 70 swimmers joining in last year.

He said a swimmer from Bunbury had come to Busselton to train, and they had even attracted an American tourist who happened to be in town.

"Paddle boarders are particularly welcome. We'd like to see a few more of them," Mr Green said.

"It's a great opportunity for solos and teams to get the feel of the swim before the big day."

He said the start times were staggered to prevent any swimmer from being at the end of the jetty alone.
