Firefighters were kept busy at the weekend with fires burning around the region.

A car fire which spread to a paddock on O’Connor Road in Burekup required firefighters from 2.35pm until 6pm on Saturday.

In Bunbury on Sunday firefighters were lucky to save the boardwalk leading to the Boulter’s Heights lookout from a fire at 11.16am.

The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious and an arson warning sign has been installed at the base of the boardwalk on Wittenoom Street.

Another suspicious fire burnt at the Bussell Pine Plantation in Wellington State Forest in Dardanup shire.

Department of Parks and Wildlife firefighters had the fire, which started in the early hours of Saturday morning, contained by Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters remained at the site yesterday and will continue to monitor the fire.

The three blazes came on a weekend when Department of Fire and Emergency Services had declared a total fire ban.
