Police have arrested a 27-year-old Karratha man and seized about $150,000 worth of methylamphetamine.

Police have arrested a 27-year-old Karratha man and seized about $150,000 worth of methylamphetamine allegedly destined for the Pilbara.

Detective Senior Sergeant Jon Munday said a package sent from Asia containing 269g of the drug was intercepted by Australian Federal Police and Customs and Border Protection in Perth last week.

The joint investigation, which included the West Pilbara Detectives and the Organised Crime Unit, resulted in the arrest of a Karratha man the package was allegedly destined for.

Police searched the man’s Baynton home last Wednesday and seizing several drug-related items.

He was charged with attempting to possess a marketable quantity of a border-controlled drug and could face up to 25 years maximum in jail under the Commonwealth Criminal Code.

The man appeared in Karratha Magistrates Court on May 7 and has been remanded in custody until June 9 for a further appearance.

Sen. Sgt Munday said it had been a week-long investigation.

“Anyone involved in any drug supply network into regional WA or into Australia will be targeted,” he said.
