Swans name new coaches

New South Hedland Swans Football Club coaches Troy Melville and Steve Jacobs are ready to take on the 2015 season.

South Hedland Swans Football Club has announced two new coaches for its league and reserve teams.

Troy Melville has made the move south to coach the league team after a successful four-year stint with rivals Port Hedland Rovers as assistant senior coach and reserves coach from 2010-2013.

Melville helped coach the club to three league premierships and two reserve premierships.

He is also a Town of Port Hedland councillor and a committee member of the Port Hedland Turf Club.

New reserves coach Steve Jacobs played his first game of football at six and his enduring love for the game led him to take up coaching.

"My coaching experience has been very enjoyable," he said.

"I've coached the Mullewa colts team to two preliminary finals in 2012 and 2013 and was assistant coach of the Mullewa league side during their 2013 premiership win.

"I have a very good understanding of the game and, given the opportunity and the right support around me, I feel I can put a very competitive team on the park every week."
